Kuala Lumpur - Jun 2024
June 2024 saw me jetting off to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for a work trip that doubled as my first foray into Asia. The primary purpose was to present at an internal conference, but I managed to squeeze in some sightseeing during my week-long stay.
Despite only having the weekend to properly explore, I made the most of my free time by walking extensively around the city.
As someone who isn't particularly fond of hot weather, I found the tropical climate quite challenging. The heat and humidity were constant companions during my urban wanderings, making each exploration a bit of an endurance test.
While KL had its charms, I must admit it didn’t strike s chord with me. It was an interesting experience to visit once, especially as my introduction to Asia, but it's not a destination I'd rush back to on my own accord. The city offered a fascinating glimpse into a culture vastly different from my own, yet I found myself longing for more temperate climes.
In retrospect, this trip served as an excellent opportunity to step out of my comfort zone, both professionally and personally. It allowed me to contribute to an important work event while also broadening my horizons through travel. Though Kuala Lumpur may not top my list of favourite cities, the experience of navigating a new continent and culture was amazing.
